How to Find a Cheap PS3
Searching for a PS3 on sale can be a daunting task. I guess that enough people are still buying them that you don’t see them on sale often. It can be annoying if you only have a set amount of money to work with and it’s not quite enough to make the purchase.
I’m right there with you! I’ve tried to justify the purchase in so many ways. I knew I could try to sell my old PS2 and even the games to raise money for a PS3 fund. I’ve given serious thought to cleaning out my closet, trying to find some of those old jeans that now seem to be in fashion and see if I could sell them on eBay. I dug through the basement in the junk room looking for old board games and stuffed animals to auction off online. I even once had a garage sale to sell all my old junk so I could fund the purchase of the PS3. After doing the math I had made about $5 an hour or a measly $50. I don’t recommend garage sales as you’ll end up getting less money for your stuff! I definitely recommend auctioning your old stuff off on eBay, you’ll make much more money.
In days gone by I felt the same way. You seem to get so much more from the PS3 than from the Xbox or Wii. I was sold when I found it was Blu-Ray. Obviously, the games are awesome in HD and I just upgraded my Netflix membership to include Blu-Ray/HD movies as well. Good luck getting that point past the wife! Truthfully, once I got my wife hooked on Hi-Def TV we’ve never looked back. In the end it wasn’t that difficult to get her on my side for the PS3 purchase except when it came to the price.
I’ve done my homework in this area and I simply haven’t been able to find a better value for the money than the PS3. Even when it’s not on sale! You’ll spend $200-250 bucks on a basic Blu-Ray player anyway. The new XBOX does play games in HD and movies as well but it uses the not-chosen HD DVD format. Still, the challenge is getting a PS3 at a discount if at all possible.
I searched on eBay and some other traditional auction sites and found that there really aren’t any PS3 Sale Prices out there. You have to spend more than you normally would and get a “bundle” to really get the value. The goal here is to spend as little money as possible, not more.
In the end I had to get outside the box. I began looking into unique bid auction sites. For my money there is simply no comparison to www.auctions4acause.com. They have more everyday items available for auction, including the PS3, than any of the other sites. Most other sites focus on really high-dollar items like cars, boats, houses and land. That’s all well and good but I just want a PS3!
Once I found that site I knew I had what I was looking for. They had the item I wanted and it was possible for me to get it very cheap. I visited the site and setup an account. I rung up 3 bids and knew I had the lowest and unique bid. Alas, I didn’t win the first time around. A few days later another was being auctioned. I placed a few more bids and slept well that night. Bingo! The second time around I won. 1 week later I was unboxing my new PS3. All told I had bid less than $59.64. Not too shabby, huh?
It can take a few minutes of reading to truly grasp the concept of the lowest unique bid auction style. After you grasp the idea you could become addicted. Since that time that I won the PS3 I’ve bid on and won 3 other items including an iPod Nano (they have the best iPod Prices) and $400 gas card. I’m getting about 4 to 1 on my money so far with $1,200 in items for less than $360 in bidding.
If you’re looking for the best prices don’t bother with the Best Buys or Walmarts. You can surely get a great deal when you go register at Auctions4aCause.
