Midlife Crisis Alert: Buying A Classic Ford Mustang

So I haven’t had time to speak on the weblog half as much as I had expected, because of the fact that I have been helping my Dad fuel his wild & crazy midlife crisis. Well, some would argue it’s not as crazy as it could be. You see, what he did was he got all done up like fonzie, and storm over to my apartment and casually inform me, in his “coolest” dialect: “Get in, dude, we are gonna start scouting for some classic Mustangs. You heard that right, youngster, I’m finally going to do this thing.”

And so my Dad and I were on our way to all of those wild classic car lots that I’m pretty much certain are mob-run, and I see my crazy padre wrote a check within just a few minutes, for an extremely gleaming classic Ford automobile. I mean, it really is one hell of a machine. It made some great noise as well.

There’s a reason why I put about that sound in a past tense. It sounded great right up to the point that it stopped making any noises. The old man informs me that it is just a simple fix and that all it will take is the right part. Of course, it’s not as painless to find 1967 Mustang parts as it was like three decades years ago, but the old man insists that there is a pretty good-sized aftermarket for them to this day. From what I’m told the surest way to get you parts for 1965 Mustangs is through online auctions, because you can find them rebuilt and sometimes as good as they were 30 years ago. They’re not necessarily super-cheap, however… Think about it, these are thirty year old classic car parts.

Could be worse, though… He might have got himself a harley.
