The Harry Potter books have a huge group of fans in the world

I am quite fascinated by the grand worldwide popularity of the Harry Potter novels. The Harry Potter novels were written by the English writer J.K. Rowling. She saw the light of day on 31 July 1965. Her complete name is Joanne Rowling. But she writes under the short form J.K. Rowling because primarily her publishing house considered it was a beneficial move to hide the point that she is female. The publisher feared it might have a negative effect on the sales numbers if everybody instantaneously recognizes that the author is a woman. Thus, instead of using her first name she used two initials. As she has no middle name she picked Kathleen as basis for the K. in her pen name. Kathleen is the name of her paternal grandmother.

The very first Harry Potter story – Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone – was released in 1997 in the UK. Quite funny is the fact that only one thousand pieces of the first novel were produced at the beginning. The original title of the novel was not Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, but Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. But when the novel was publicized to the United States marketplace in the year 1998, it was named Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.

After that Joanne invented 6 additional Harry Potter novels. Finally the Harry Potter series is made of seven stories. These are:

  • Novel 1: Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
  • Novel 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Novel 3: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Novel 4: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Novel 5: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Novel 6: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Novel 7: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The Harry Potter novels have been translated into over 50 languages and have been published in many countries. Besides the big success in the USA and the UK, Harry Potter is also noticeably popular in Europe. The Harry Potter stories have been released in Germany under those titles:

I must admit that I did not have the opportunity to read all the books. But there are people who know them all, which is quite impressive and is part of the tremendous success.
